I'm still alive!

I met a mother a few weeks ago who had just found out her child's diagnosis of ASD. I came home and intended to get some information together for her and update my blog. As usual, life took over and time got away from me. Today I sat down to do this and realized I have not posted anything on here since Samantha was still 4! As I write this, we have already started plans for her 6th birthday!

Since my last post we have moved across country, endured a full deployment of my hubby to Iraq, and had countless other changes! The school districts in our new town are much more lax about things as far as documentation of everything, but are also much more agreeable in meeting my requests. They seem to truly have Sam's development in their interest and are not as "on guard" and quick to say "no" as the schools in TN were. Don't get me wrong, they are well trained on how to orchestrate an IEP meeting and make damn sure there is a dominate personality in the driver's seat, but they also know I can be that personality should I feel the need. It seems to keep things in balance that way. So we ride it out.

I fear that because Samantha has done so well here and make such huge progress that I, myself, have slacked off. I need to dig out the IEP Goal Bank list and see where we are and where we need to go over the next year. It never fails that this is a 3 day job for me and takes an enormous amount of time. I just need to MAKE the time.

So anyway, I am still around. Samantha is doing very well. We have not forgot our regular readers, and will try to be more diligent in posting. :)
